Willy and Wendy are originally from Zooville. Though their exact ages are unknown, both are considered seniors and have been at SPS for many years.
Willy, short for Wilhelmina, is the more active and playful of the pair. Despite her age, she surprises her caregivers with bursts of energy—twirling around her enclosure, climbing with agility, and delighting her onlookers with numerous backflips. Her nickname is FLIP. She enjoys soft hammocks, sunny spots, and hanging upside down just to take in the view. Caregivers often find her near Wendy, gently grooming or lounging nearby. She is the dominant of the two and Wendy calmly takes a back seat to allow Willy to care for her.
Wendy is shy and reserved. She enjoys resting in the sun and slowly exploring her space with deliberate calm. Caregivers describe her as thoughtful and observant. She responds to soft voices and whispering and shows interest in fruit-scented enrichment. She prefers stillness to action, but she’s always aware of what’s going on around her.
The two lemurs are almost always together—resting, grooming, or sharing enrichment.
They attract guests with their orange-red eyes, Willy’s backflips and their numerous grunts. They are active both day and night and can be heard over the sanctuary in the evening with their calls.
Their diet consists of 70% fruits, enjoying, bananas, craisins, grapes, pineapple, peaches and raisins, but they also enjoy potatoes, oatmeal bars and smoothies!
