Mia

Species: Ring-tailed Lemur

DOB: April 7 (SPS Assigned, Year Unknown)

Mia is a ring-tailed lemur who has been at the sanctuary prior to 2016. Her prior history is unknown. She can be identified by her cropped tail, due to a previous health issue which required cropping her tail. Lemurs use their tails for balance, but she was quick to learn to navigate without it. She is fast and furious, jumping around her enclosure with intent and determination. She is always on security detail, keeping others away from her enclosure, and if getting too close, she will take a swipe at the caregivers with her grooming claw. Mia loves getting scratches with a backscratcher from her caregivers. Mia can often be heard responding to alarm calls from our McCaw on the other side of the sanctuary, which they do almost daily.

Some of Mia’s favorite foods are bananas, grapes, cranberries, fruits of all kinds, romaine lettuce leaves, peanut butter/banana nut oatmeal bars, raisin bread and some veggies.
