Jackie Cinnamon Capuchin
Date of Birth: 12/19/1991
Former Pet
Jackie is a Cinnamon capuchin who is very intelligent. Jackie likes to busy herself with various tasks, such as holding her ball in her tail while climbing around her enclosure, removing seeds from various fruits or picking at little things on the floor of her enclosure.
Jackie gathers nuts and seeds in a pile prior to eating them and prefers to choose her food from the community food bowl rather than be served, making sure she gets exactly what she wants.
Jackie enjoys playing ball and makes soft little noises when she is happy or excited. She is a fan favorite due to her small size. Her favorite foods are fruits and vegetables with seeds and oatmeal bars with nuts and fruits. In the cooler weather Jackie snuggles with a blanket at night, taking it into her night house and at times has retrieved it for her caregivers when asked.
Capuchin monkeys do not have food pouches, so they typically take their time when eating, preferring to graze over a period of time. Caregivers are asked to give them extra time to eat, while the baboon and macaques are stuffing their food pouches to eat later.
