Species: Panamanian White-Faced Capuchin
DOB: February 20 (SPS Assigned, Year Unknown)
Arrived at SPS: Date approximate (2021)
Origin: Bo came to SPS with a female companion, Felicia who died in 2024. He is waiting to be paired with another companion.
Bo is one of the sanctuary’s most active and high-spirited residents. He lives up to his species specific behavior as a white-faced capuchin with his curiosity, intelligence and boundless energy. He loves to investigate new items in his enclosure, new toys and rearrange enrichment items in both enclosures. He likes to participate in a variety of enrichment activities that stimulate his mind and he is known for figuring out these puzzles in a matter of minutes. Bo rarely slows down—his days are a flurry of climbing, foraging, darting, running between enclosures and leaping between perches, all while surveying his surroundings with wide-eyed curiosity.
He has a voracious appetite and eats with gusto, though also prefers that you leave his leftovers for awhile so that he can sort and graze on the rest. His enthusiasm for food is matched by his eagerness to interact with his environment. He prefers to forage for food and also tries to snag a few bites from his neighbors by using his tail to scoop it in his direction. He likes items with seeds or peelings and oatmeal balls containing a variety of foods which he can explore.
He loves to engage with caregivers and the crowd by banging toys on his barrel, yelling “ahhhhhhhh” in a loud deep tone and chattering. Although quite active, he definitely has his calm and gentle moments and enjoys the attention of some one to one chats.
