Ruby

Ruby is a female orangutan who was born on April 30, 1989.  She lives in the same enclosure as her sister, Julie, on the Pinellas Trail side of the Great Ape Building. Ruby is a smart girl. She can sign I love you and show you where her mouth, eyes, nose, and ears are when asked to point to them. Ruby and Julie love to hang out in the chimp building in their bedrooms watching their caregivers clean and do projects.

One of her favorite things is drink cups and she prefers for her caretakers to hold her cup as she drinks. She loves pine needles and will often ask her caretakers to get her some from the nearby trees. She loves all fruits and banana smoothies. 

Ruby is a crafter! She loves to paint, she even likes to use her finger paints to paint her enclosure and toys for fun. She also loves to shred material and make scarves and bracelets, and weave the material through the enclosure bars. Like her sister, she loves to wrap herself up in a sheet or blanket. Ruby has a tender, loving personality.
