Magillan

Magillan was born March 20, 1968, and is Shawn, Lucy, Harry, and Bobby’s father. He has passed on his playful and sweet personality to all of them.  

Magillan will stare into his caregivers' eyes as they talk to him and it’s like talking to your best friend. He will nod along with the conversation and he has such a calming effect on everyone who has a chat with him. Be sure to say hi to him from the Pinellas Trail or the fence line when you visit! Don’t let that sweet demeanor fool you however, he’s still going to loudly alert the entire Great Ape House if he hears (think, fire truck) or sees (hello, black racers) something he doesn’t like!      

We received a donation of extra-large plastic trucks and they became a favorite toy of his. He loves pushing them around and playing with them. He is another chimp who loves to play chase and tag, although his speed may be a little slower these days. 

 Drink cups are a huge hit with him and he prefers you to help hold them as he drinks. He loves greens, banana smoothies, grapes, and cooked potatoes. He is a very easygoing chimp and so loving to his caregivers.
