Joker

Joker is a senior chimp who was born around 1972. He is one of the only apes that would rather have your attention than food, he's a play-first, eat-later kind of guy. His favorite game to play with his caregivers is chase. Recently, Joker learned how to brush his teeth with a toothbrush! It is part of the enrichment program we’re working on with him. 

Joker was used for entertainment shows at Jungle Larry's but was getting too big and strong to handle, which is how he found his way to us.

Joker LOVES to eat his greens and vegetables and chow down on his favorite food, sweet potatoes. He will also slide his hand under his enclosure’s mesh and point to the pine tree near his enclosure asking for pine needles to eat. 

Joker is a master “nest” maker. He will gather the blankets he is given and sit down in the middle of them, patting them down, and stacking them on top of each other in a circle around him. It is very sweet to watch him make his nest as he does it with so much care.  

He is another chimp with an infectious laugh- you can't help but smile when you're around Joker.
