Scotty

Scotty is a Hamadryas Baboon which hails from the Red Sea coast of Africa and Arabia. Scotty was a pet and came to live at the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary in 2015. He was born in March of 1992. With his soft brown eyes, strong build, and dog-like muzzle, he’s very popular with the volunteers at the sanctuary, such a handsome guy! 

His ferocious appetite is apparent while he chows down on everything given to him- his favorite food? Any and all foods. Scotty LOVES to get cold sugar-free drinks and to drink from the hose. He will converse with you with his low bark or grunt and will purr when he is happy.

You can usually find Scotty perched on his highest platform where he can see everything from the south parking lot to overlooking the sanctuary as a whole. He enjoys keeping a watch on everyone. 

Scotty likes being read to and one of his caretakers has taught him to roll and ball back-and-forth with her as a game.

 Scotty is one of the most popular small primates here with visitors. He is very loved.
